We
are Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, and as the people of God,
we speak and act in behalf of our risen Lord in today's world.
Walking in the shadow of the cross, we are called to carry His
burden, and will do so by supporting Christ's work throughout
the world.
We provide for the needs of our members
and for the needs of our community. Faced with national
and global challenges, which also need our faith and witness, we
are not alone or powerless. Christ is our guide and leader.
Moreover, as members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America, we work with our five million fellow Lutherans to do
together what we cannot do alone.
Zion dedicates itself to seeing that the
Word of God is spoken forcefully, and that the Sacraments
offered regularly. In addition, we are committed to offering
strong educational, youth and music programs.
The 'Evangelical' in our name reminds us
that we bear Good News, to those who long to hear it. We will
reach out to the community to join with us in worship and praise
and work. The 'Lutheran' in our name reminds use of our heritage
of remaining faithful to the Gospel, and deep tradition is a
part of who we are. But we are also aware of the changes that
modern life have wrought in our workplaces and families and
community. We want to open our doors wide to all who wish to
enter, to accommodate their changing needs, and to greet
visitors as our brothers and sisters, children of the same God.
We offer our gifts of time, talent, and
money according to God's will for us, and encourage others to do
so as well. We shall develop a long range stewardship program,
which includes preparing the next generation for leadership.
We are proud of our youth, our finest
treasure, and strive to create a place where they can grow,
flourish, have fun, and where they are at home.
Glen Rock is a small town, but it has a
lot to offer, and we're a part of it. Our building and our
hearts are open for our community to use, and we will reach out
to help in any way we can.
We work to spread God's word, and to
grow and expand our congregation. But we lift the cross and
spread the Gospel not for our sake, but for the sake of Christ,
our rock and our salvation. |
