Thursday May 4, 2006 I am always astounded by how quickly time speeds by. It has been overlong since last I wrote in this space. We at Zion want you to know we have a place for you, a place we believe will bring comfort and value to your life, to your relationship with God, and to your family and friends. We believe that the place for you begins with a space for you here at Zion, 9 AM, Sunday morning - in the sanctuary. A sanctuary is a place of safety, of peace, of truth, of beauty, of friendship and good relationship, with God and others. We believe that the sanctuary that is Zion offers all of these characteristics. In the months since last I wrote in this column, early 2006, the world has continued rushing pell mell ahead, sometimes bringing us great good but often confronting us with terrible difficulties. In the months since last I wrote this column Zion has continued steadily offering sanctuary, strengthening our music and worship practices, embracing new visitors and new members, seeking to serve God and presenting the comfort of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament - Baptism and Holy Communion. In the midst of your pell mell life as gasoline prices skyrocket, as the clamor of war intensifies, as you work and hope to make sense out of the human experience, come check us out. See if we are what I believe we are....a place of steady sanctuary in which you will be welcomed, in which we seek to live in the calmness of God's presence, tuning into the beauty and depth God offers us as we worship together in the Name and Life of the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ. Every Sunday we gather at 9 AM for worship, first and third Sundays offering Holy Communion. Every Sunday we settle in with welcome, children's time with Pastor, prayer, confession, song, Word, profession of faith, receiving of offering that we might both serve the Lord and grow in the Lord's love and purpose for our lives. Our worship time is approximately 60 minutes in length - I believe these 60 minutes are among the best 60 minutes of any given week for their value and their quality. Come and listen, come and see.
In Christ, Pastor Ed |
